Guess we left you wondering were we might be!
Well, we left Arizona for home near the end of February. We were watching weather reports and knew the Oregon Coast was in for it...so decided to make a run for the coast. Our plans worked out perfect and we were able to make it home without any weather issues.
We stopped just outside of Bakersfield on our return...staying at Orange Grove RV Park...a favorite place of ours. While setting up, E doing the outside jobs and J handling the inside jobs, low and behold Ken and Tam Edwards walk over to welcome us. Wow, what a pleasant surprise! They were there for the weekend and had come up a day early. We would have missed them for sure, as we were leaving the next morning!
We had a wonderful and long over-due visit. Went out to dinner at a local place with lots of character and good food as well. We drove past it once going north and almost missed it again while heading back, but Tam saw the sign and gave a holler, so we turned around at the next cross street.
Would have loved to stay through the week-end with them, but the weather was truly an issue and for once it cooperated, and the sun welcomed us home the day we crossed into Oregon from California. We unloaded, started laundry, etc. went out for a welcome home dinner (we always treat ourselves when we get home) and the very next day...it RAINED. Were so glad to be back to the rain, as we really missed it...yes, we did! Since our return, there has been a BUNCH of rain and have been times when we said, "...enough already!" But then we get a day of sun or even a sun break or two, and life is good again.
Today (can you believe it is MAY) we have sun and warm weather. Maybe Spring is really here!
Last week we spent 4 days on the Rogue River and Elwyn fished for Salmon while I just rested. We drove the motor home up (all of 36 miles north) which made it a lot easier for E, as Harv and Jan start for the boat at 5:30am! Elwyn caught a 14 lb.(+/) Salmon. Yummmm! It was fun and loved spending time with them. Jim and Jo were also there too,(Four Season RV Resort) so, we all went out for dinner one night. I loved not having to cook. As I told a friend, when she asked if I fished, "...No, I am just going to watch TV and eat Bonbons all day." And believe me, I did as little as possible.
We are busy working at getting things ready for the summer Farmers and Artisans Market at the port and two other Art Festivals. One in Roseburg, OR (June) and the other in Sherwood, OR. (Sept.). So as our summer is going to be very busy, and except for the two mentioned, we won't be taking any more trips unitl Fall...maybe.
Cleo is still difficult to get to or from the motor home. But once there, or once at home, she is fine...just doesn't like the going to and fro in the cat carrier I guess.
I'll post a photo of Elwyn and his Salmon in a day or two.
Take care...
