So here we are, in Reedsport, OR. We are a vendor for this 4-day event. Wow! These carvers are truly awesome. There are 40 of them and come from all over the west coast and other states as well as Italy, Japan and Canada.
Oh…and by the way, we did get home from our winter trip. As usual I didn’t finish the blog. And Cleo is with us this trip too, but she stays in the motor home and she wouldn’t like all the noise at this event at all.
The carvers are located on the perimeter while the vendors (including the food vendors) are in the interior. We have ear plugs, but as yet we haven’t used them. Yes, it is hard to hear customers and hard for them to hear us at times, but everyone manages and is understanding. After all, we are all in the same boat.
First of all, we are right next to MR. FUDGE. Yes, it is good, in fact yummy.
Elwyn did find the bakery (The Sugar Shack) in Reedsport and it is less than a block away!

Below are some of the photos taken the first day (Thursday) of the carvers and the stumps they have to work on for the 3.5 days for the main carving which will be judged on Sunday. They have a set amount of time each day to work on it and it needs to be finished for judging by noon on Sunday.
The following are photos taken of carvings for sale that have been done by the carvers prior to this event.
Each day the carvers have 1.5 hours to complete no more than two ‘quick carvings’. These are then auctioned off at 5:30pm. Below are a few photos of these carvings on day one.

And this is a photo of what our neighbor on the other side does. She is awesome at this balloon art. And these are not expensive either. So incredible.
