She hasn't done a sketch of me yet...I'm waiting! I've investigated her tote bag that holds all her 'art stuff'. The smells are wonderful. Really! A little dust from the ground, shavings from those 'sticks' that make the marks on the drawing pad, and that 'gummy, stretchy' thing she uses frequently. She calls it an 'eraser.' I'll keep posing. Maybe she'll get the hint that I'm ready to be 'sketched' or scratched...either one.
E
and J:
Art Class was fun and
way too short. We had 4 Wednesdays, 10 am to 12:30. Gary Walker
taught each of us a lot of tips and tricks about sketching and I
(Judy) need to work on them. The more practice, the better I'll
get...I hope. I know I'm not going to be an artist...but it is
rewarding to put something you see on paper and actually have it
identifiable. Gary is a retired professional artist from Canada. He
worked as a forensic artist and shared several stories with us. He
and his wife have a ranch not too far from Toronto. They raised
horses, but now enjoy their retirement and travel south in the
winter...leaving the ranch in the care of family. He does beautiful
water color and pen and ink paintings, many of which are the horses
they love.We took a day trip to Tubac so that when we go to the Art Festival (the 8th or 9th), we will know the road and location of the event. The Village of Tubac is the home of wonderful art galleries as well as many southwest pottery, yard art, and apparel shops. The Art Festival will have 175 juried artists and of course, food and entertainment. Looking at this event with the idea of possible participation next year, should we decide to winter in AZ again. However, Elwyn says that he needs to figure out how he might be able to actually do some Intarsia when we travel. But, doubt we have enough storage room...yet!
The photos of our visit to Tubac will be added to a future blog and include the Art Festival.
Following photos are of a few sketches from the Art Class:
These are not great photos of the sketches, but you get the idea. Sketching is fun...but an artist I'll never be!
Small storage building and tree on RV park property.
Our choice of tree or trees on property.
Learning about faces and how to sketch them. This isn't of anyone. We learned the method of drawing and the standard rules regarding faces.
Composition sketch of RV Park community building, a tree located elsewhere on property and mountains that were not there.
